Victory Church of the Peace Vision

A "Safe House"

First and foremost we need to understand what the purpose of an assembly is in terms of ministry to Christ, to one another as believers, and to visitors. We are here to:

  • Worship and serve Christ by giving Him our undivided attention without holding back. This is our sacrifice, to put our wills, opinions and preconceived ideas away and to truly let Him have His way in us and in this place. Without each of us doing our best to let this happen our worship will be incomplete. (Romans 12:1)
  • Understand one another. No one in this house is perfect, and we need to allow a lot of latitude to give each other opportunity to grow. We need to practice on one another, work with one another, grow with one another. Not only is this a place to worship and fellowship, it is also a place to comfort and encourage. No one should ever be afraid of condemnation or a judgmental attitude, or that their particular weakness will hinder others in Christ. We are here to work with these weaknesses and to cause them, in love, to be strengthened. We can help each other. (Ephesians 4:16)
  • Minister to those who come in. There is a hurting world out there and we need to be ready to encourage and comfort them as well, especially as God brings them into our midst. It's always easier to be open with those we know well, but we also need to be ready to do the same with every visitor, whether they come in as a believer already strong in Christ, or as someone seeking and needing help.
  • Seek to grow by the hearing and doing of the Word. The bottom line is that no matter how we come into this house, we want to help one another and ourselves to leave stronger, happier and healthier.
Build a Strong In-House Body

Strong relationships are based on trust, which is strengthened by good, open communication. When we trust and have faith in each other, in spite of our differences and weaknesses, the things that can be accomplished in Christ are incredible. Remember that the enemy is the "accuser of the brethren" and that if we don't keep believing in each other we don't keep working together. If you have concerns of any kind, it's better to get it out on the table and work it out.

Build a Strong Community Body

I believe that our body is here not only to facilitate but to initiate the unifying of the body of Christ in the Peace Region. This doesn't mean joining ourselves to any and everything, but to attempt to work with other believers who call on the Name of Christ as the only begotten Son of God. It means to establish relationships with them, love them, and try to understand their part in reaching this region for Christ. We need to remember also that we are part of a strong, unified body of believers which extends around the globe, with lots of resources at our disposal. This church has been an independent work for so long that we still tend to think as one - as "an island unto ourselves". The Victory movement is going strong in the things of the Lord. It is not the only movement doing things for Christ, but it is ours. We will be getting on board as much as we can.

Reach Our Region With Christ

As I heard from Pastor George Hill "We want to reach every available person in every available way by every available means with the gospel of Jesus Christ." It's important for us to remember that there is no higher priority than to give every person we can the opportunity to have a personal meeting with the King of kings and the Lord of lords. We need to work together, brainstorm, pray and fast to see what ways God might have us get involved in the community.

Bring it on!
